Not only MFC's backstory is heartbreaking, this whole book is just a soul-crushing continuation of her downfall. All that said, it was an enjoyable audio. Sebastian York however (as much as I love him), doesn’t quite get the emotion, or the female scenes on point. Lauren Ezzo narrates perfectly, her narration of the male scenes is totally spot on, completely faultless. The hero of the story though, has got to be Bear, Tennessee’s son, he really did steal the show. Some horrible characters, and two MCs that took a long time to finally believe in themselves. Enemies to lovers/secret crush at its best. Yes things eventually got better for her, but things blew hot and cold so much, my mind was spinning. Cruz was so good with her on the cruise and I was rooting for him to be the man she deserved, someone who would stand up for her, and even though he did eventually man up, he was still a bit of a pr*ck to her. The townspeople really were small minded. I wanted to scream and shout at everyone that’s ever wronged her (it’s a long list let me tell you). Flipping heck! It really is quite an emotional read.
